Historia Parroquial
La Iglesia Católica Romana de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe fue fundada en 1906 en el área de Bensonhurst en Brooklyn.
Se erigió una estructura de marco simple con campanario en 15th Avenue frente a 73rd Street. En 1908, se construyó una iglesia más grande en el mismo sitio y contenía un altar impresionante, estatuas y estaciones de la cruz ornamentadas.
En pocos años, el complejo de la iglesia creció hasta incluir una rectoría, un convento y dos edificios escolares. En 1933, el edificio de la iglesia fue completamente destruido por un incendio.
Se diseñó una nueva iglesia en un estilo neoitaliano y se construyó en el mismo lugar. En 1973, un incendio devastó el interior del edificio de la década de 1930, destruyendo o dañando muchos de sus muebles y ventanas.
La iglesia pronto fue reconstruida dentro de los viejos muros e incluyó nuevas vidrieras y un nuevo órgano de tubos.
2015: Pope Francis Celebrates Mass at Madison Square Garden
On September 25, 2015, Pope Francis celebrated Mass at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan, New York. Our statue of Our lady of Guadalupe, as shown in the pictures, was used to adorn the altar during the beautiful celebration of the Eucharist. Pope Francis's visit to New York City touched many people's hearts and gave hope to many. As a gift from Pope Francis, we were graced with another statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe, located on the left side of the church next to the Carlos Acutis statue and baptismal font. We are honored to have had Our Lady of Guadalupe be a part of this beautiful celebration. Today, you can find the statue on the left side of the altar.
