Become a Catechists
Our parish is seeking faithful and dedicated individuals to serve as catechists in our Religious Education program. Catechists play a vital role in passing on the Catholic faith, helping children, young people, and adults grow in their knowledge of God, deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ, and live as faithful disciples.
The duties of a catechist include preparing and teaching weekly lessons, leading prayer, fostering a welcoming and faith-filled classroom environment, and serving as a positive Christian example to students. Catechists work closely with the Religious Education staff and receive training, guidance, and teaching materials to support them in this ministry.
You do not need to be a professional teacher—only a love for the Catholic faith, a willingness to serve, and a desire to share God’s message with others. If you feel called to help form the next generation of Catholics, we invite you to prayerfully consider becoming a catechist. Your time and dedication can make a lasting difference in the lives of our children and families.
Contact the parish office for more information at 718-236-8300 or olgchurch@aol.com.
All catechists must be virtus trained. Visit the website to register to a virtus class.
